Low Cost Computer Lab Wiki

This wiki is place for presenting and collaborating on the research performed by the Low Cost Computer Lab for Education (Locolab). The Locolab is a project of the Open Institute. The Open Institute has started an ambitious new project called the Open Schools program. This is joint project by the ministry of Education and the Open Institute. It's goal is to introduce computer education on secondary schools in Cambodia.

The Locolab is a research project, which aims at developing knowledge on low cost computing. The basic idea is to develop 4 different scenarios of different hard- and software combinations which are made suitable for the Cambodian educational system. These different scenarios will be tested in pilot projects. All the scenarios will be described in this wiki and can be scrutinised and edited by other interested parties.

This wiki is divided in three parts (as shown in the menu on the left). There is a section on the Locolab which describes what the Locolab does and which scenarios are being worked on. The hardware section describes all the hardware issues on low cost computing. It will also include all the tests and benchmarks performed on the hardware, and results of those tests. Finally there is a software section, which describes several options for software environments, like operating systems, and some specific educational software can be added to it.

This website can be modified by anyone wishing to do so. In order to start editing you first have to register here. More on the wiki syntax used by this wiki can be found on the syntax section.
